Common Sports Injuries

  • Back pain: (nerve compression, disc injury or protrusion)
  • Tendonitis (shoulder rotator cuff syndromes)
  • Joint and ligament sprains (knees and ankles)
  • Foot and heel pain (metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis)
  • Repetitive strain syndromes (frontal knee pain, tennis elbow)
  • Chronic pain (syndromes affecting the hips, back and lower limb)

How It Works

Once an actual injury has been identified, physiotherapy can begin. LVW physiotherapists will carefully assess your injury to determine the best course of action. Different forms of treatment are dictated by the injury itself including massage or manual therapy, heat, cold, laser, dry needling, or gentle electrical therapy. In many cases, a combination of treatments may be indicated to relieve the patient’s symptoms which might include muscle tension or swelling.

Once progress is made in healing, strength training is included to gain stability and reduce the chances of injury happening again. Usually, an athlete will want to return to their games as quickly as possible, so you can be sure that our physiotherapists will work with you to regain the strength you needed to get back to active practice (and even competition).
